Actively involved in the Atascocita Fire Department for the past 20 years.Joined as a volunteer Fire Fighter, served on the AVFD Board of Directors for a number of years. Served as president of AVFD BOD. Helped transition the department to a professional respected organization. Joined ESD team in 2006. Was appointed to a vacated term of Pastor Jerry Martin. Successfully ran election campaign ( first ever required) was elected in to position and currently serving 4th term. Service to the Community, Leadership, and infrastructure to the organization are just a couple personal goals and contributions given to the organization.Tom has over 30 years of retail experience in the area. The past 20 years with The Kroger Company. Working in many different capacities from operations to Human Resources. Tom calls on these work experiences to help guide his direction and contribution to the District.Tom and his wife Josie have lived in Atascocita since 1986. They have three sons Thomas, Michael and Patrick. |

Actively involved in the Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department since 1986.Joined as a volunteer Fire Fighter, and later became an EMS EMT-I. Served AVFD as both Fire and EMS Lieutenants and Captains and as the Department Chief in 1990.John comes from a volunteer fire fighting family. His father was volunteer Fire Fighter on Long Island, NY and he joined Wantagh FD in 1965.Joined ESD #46 in 2008. Was appointed to a vacated term of Gene Lubocki. Successfully ran election campaign in 2009 and re-elected to current position.John had over 37 years of engineering and supervisory experience with ExxonMobil before retiring in 2006. These experiences provide insight and direction for working with AVFD. John has lived in Atascocita since 1986. John and his wife Lauren have six adult children and ten grandchildren. |

Buddy Rice

Commissioner Buddy Rice has been a resident of the Atascocita Area for 20 years and a lifelong Texan. Buddy and his wife live in the Kings River Subdivision, with their children.
Buddy was appointed to fill a vacated seat in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. Buddy has served 30 years and has pursued several positions of employment in the Fire and Emergency Services Industry and is currently the Fire Marshal for the City of Deer Park. His educational background includes high school and Texas A&M Fire Recruit Academy and other Fire/Police technical schools. Buddy is a proud member of the Harris County Fire Fighters Association (Past President), International Association of Arson Investigators, Texas Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, Texas Fire Marshal Association and Humble Masonic Lodge 979. His goal is to provide the citizens of Atascocita with BEST fire and emergency services there are to offer. This would include studying the issues, voting in the best interest of the taxpayers, Citizens, and employees that are associated with ESD 46. |
The next ESD Commissioner’s election is November 3, 2020.
